Kilts & Kilt Suits

What makes a 21st CENTURY KILT special?

Howie has reinvented the kilt to make it a practical, modern garment - suited to both casual wear and more traditional formal occasions.

The Original modern
3 button jacket
If your Kilt is being made to match your Jacket and Vest, this is the way to go. It creates a defined Suit look, giving a complete modern feel. Also works without a sporran or using the front pockets.
or 1 Button Argyll
21st Century Kilts Style
The traditional style I button kilt jacket with a long lapel and then a strong curve away, giving the sporran more prominence. This Style has the same options on pockets, linings, buttons, etc.
Vests
A jacket is the perfect finishing touch to your kilt suit. 5-Buttons, two normal jetted pockets and the option of the classic V Cut or Curved finish.
Hipster Fit
No traditional rise, the Kilt will sit at the top of the hip bone for formal and can be loosened for a more modern look. Unless otherwise stated, Kilts are machine stitched, with a traditional hand finish.
Pockets
Detachable and Lined to match the triple fringe etc. Permanent buttons of your choice are attached to the front of the Kilt and wide Velcro on the inside. Ideal for more frequent kilt wearing.
Finish
Lining in the fringing down the right side. Two Back Pockets lined to match the fringe and the rest of the Kilt Suit. The waistband and beltloops are usually the same fabric as the kilt, we do offer using lining or other fabrics for an even more unique finish.
Yardage
We use 6 Yards with most of the fabrics, this is plenty for the average sized man. We do recommend extra yardage when the seat measurement is over 45.
Chunky Knit Socks
All out kilts come with complimentary chunky knit socks to complete the look.

STRUCTURE The inside of the kilt is finished as a Hand Stitched kilt would be. The pleats are cut out the back and a canvas lining is used giving the kilt more structure, comfort and better shaping.

FINISH Lining in the fringing down the right side. Two Back Pockets lined to match the fringe and the rest of the Kilt Suit. The waistband and beltloops are usually the same fabric as the kilt, we do offer using lining or other fabrics for an even more unique finish.

HAND STITCHED This will be offered as an option with certain fabrics. Some of the more expensive tweeds are only offered as Hand Stitched. £100.00

FRONT POCKETS Detachable and Lined to match the triple fringe etc. Permanent buttons of your choice are attached to the front of the Kilt and wide Velcro on the inside. Ideal for more frequent kilt wearing, priced as a pair. They should not be worn with socks up and garter flashes.

LINING UPGRADE The selection is incredible! A great way to really customise your kilt or kilt suit.

Mens Jackets

All our jackets and vests are made in Scotland and feature real horn buttons. Custom Orders are Made to Measure based on 'carcass' stock size jackets. They come as a finished piece and from time to time small alterations may be required.

We offer two styles of jacket as standard, anything outwith these options please make an appointment with Howie.

Mens Vests

A vest is the perfect finishing touch to your kilt suit. 5-Buttons, two normal jetted pockets and the option of the classic V Cut or Curved finish. Option to have a lapel on the vest, ask about fabrics cut on the cross for the vest. We strongly recommended 5 buttons. It lies best for kilt wearing using a normal classic shirt and tie.

Please note that kilts are usually ready within 6-8 weeks while jackets and kilt suits can be ready in 8-12 weeks.
